Joplin Trailer manufactures specialty dromedary boxes built to original Crane Army Ammunition Depot (AAD) specifications. These units are produced in limited quantities and built according to established patent specifications that have historically supported government and explosives-hauling applications.
Our drom boxes are not general-purpose storage units. They are highly specialized structures engineered for durability and safety.
Built to Crane AAD Specification
We manufacture only two configurations:
- Crane AAD Spec 700 Series
- Crane AAD Spec 410 Series
Each unit is constructed according to legacy government specification standards. No custom builds are offered. All units follow the original engineered design parameters.
Construction Details
Our drom boxes are built using:
- Steel subframe construction
- Aluminum body integration
This combination provides structural strength with reduced overall weight while maintaining durability under demanding hauling conditions.

Crane AAD specification drom boxes were originally developed to improve the efficiency and safety of transporting explosives. The design allows for the hauling of explosives in proximity to blasting caps on the same truck while reducing the risk of chain reaction.
